Sony has revealed the latest pocket camcorders, the Bloggie Touch at the IFA 2010 technology. The new Bloggie Touch boasts a three-inch touchscreen, and its smooth, modest styling gives a knowing nod towards the Apple iPhone. It stylish looks in everybody pocket camcorders we've seen to date, and a real challenger to the dominance of the Flip brand of pocket camcorders.

Full HD 1080p video and 12.8Mp photos with the Bloggie Touch
It’s a first pocket camcorder we've seen that offers 12.8Mp still photos, as well as full HD 1080p video recording. This high resolution still image mode is comparable to what you'd get on a digital camera. To date, we haven't seen a pocket camcorder that can match the still photo quality of a proper digital camera, but we'll put the Bloggie Touch through its paces when it's available to test. The full HD video-recording means videos taken on the Bloggie Touch should look great when played back on an HD TV, according to Sony.

Sony Bloggie Touch features
The Bloggie Touch has a great pocket video camera. Best of all, the lens has an autofocus function, which Sony claims is even versatile enough to differentiate between wide angle landscape shots and close-up macro footage. This is an optical zoom, however. Instead, you are left to rely on the 4x digital zoom. In our experience, digitally zooming with a pocket camcorder can reduce image quality.

Touchscreen design on the Sony Bloggie Touch
The three-inch touchscreen dominates the rear of the Bloggie Touch, and it's the only interface other than a main record button underneath it. It has a brilliant, quick and reactive screen that works in bright daylight conditions. This phone has a built-in 8GB memory, letting you record video and still photos directly to the camcorder itself.

There's a built-in USB jack, which flips out to let you connect the Bloggie Touch directly to a computer for simple uploads to the web. The Sony Bloggie Touch will be available to buy from November 2010, with pricing to be confirmed.
