Nokia wants to turn mobile phones into mobile radars
Thursday January 28, 2010
Today, Nokia unveiled that it’s working on a “mobile radar” concept at its Nokia Research Center (NRC) in Helsinki.
Nokia has implemented an active radar sensor into a phone, allowing it “to measure speed and the direction of movement of approaching objects, just like a traditional RADAR would.”
The mobile radar technology could be used in controlling your phone’s functions with hand gestures, in personal safety, or in sport. It might be used in gaming, too – perhaps something similar to Nintendo’s Wii, but played on a phone.
