Mobile Phone Reviews: Acer Liquid Smartphone
Friday March 12, 2010
Acer has come out with some deal-makers for those who want to save some money. They have phones out that do the same things as the “big boys” but at a smaller expense. Take a look at the “Acer Liquid” as a new Android phone here in this quick article.
Acer Liquid refreshes the mobile world with their new look. It is handsome but unique. It is similar enough to be recognized as a smartphone by anyone, but comes with that certain Acer flair on the design. The top is arched differently. It packs a beautiful screen and a powerful processor. The camera is also first class. The Acer Liquid uses one of the most popular operating systems of this year.
The first thing noticed on any smartphone is the screen. The Acer Liquid was given a 480 by 800 resolution screen. That is way better than any iPhone. The size of the screen is 3.5 inches. It is created with the older TFT version display. That is not quite as good or as bright as the newer AMOLED displays. It also uses more energy, about ten percent more than the newer AMOLED style. It is bright and responsive, but could use a small improvement in the responsiveness department. It makes use of an accelerometer to give you the ability to turn the phone and view it horizontally or vertically. A proximity sensor tells the Liquid when you are not doing anything so it can turn the screen off.
The inside of the Acer Liquid is just as good as its screen. The Android system is used on this model. So many have started using this free system from google that it seems it will overtake the mobile world. The snapdragon processor ( Qualcomm Snapdragon 8250 ) is a super speed-demon. It opens programs quickly and allows you to fly through the menus. It runs at 768 megahertz. The internal ROM memory is rated at 512 megabytes, which is getting close to the upper limit for most smartphones available at this time. Remember, this smartphone costs less than the “major” models.
The camera brings in a resolution of five megapixels. This is good enough for graphics with 2560 by 1920 pixels of clarity. Not only that, the camera has autofocus and geotagging. Geotagging is the ability to take a picture and assign a GPS value to it so you know where it was taken. The camera on the Acer Liquid can also handle videos. The only negative point about the camera is that it has no flash.
The phone is packed full of connectivity. The quad band GSM and and tri band HSDPA networks make this a “connnected” phone all over the developed world. The data connections are complete and include the coveted WLAN ( Wi-Fi ) connection. It can connect at “B” and “G” speeds to a 802.11 megahertz Wi-Fi signal. It also has a mini USB connector to do the charging instead of a MicroUSB connector. For you music lovers or for those who want some privacy on their phone calls, a 3.5 millimeter phone jack is included.
The Acer Liquid smartphone comes with the Spinlets application included. This is free and browses and streams music to the Liquid. You can share them with Facebook or email. You can also access the web sites of music artists from one place inside your Liquid. This smartphone is 4.52 inches tall by 2.51 inches wide by half an inch in thickness. That is 115 millimeters tall by 62.5 millimeters wide by 12.5 millimeters wide for readers not from the United States. It is easily pocketable with its smooth plastic cover. You can get one for around 570 dollars or 380 euros.
